Chiefly the 19 inch, 20 inch, and 21 inch screens. how much do they cost and i see a lot of deals for them.

Can you recommend other high quality screens that aren't over 500 dollars?

I plan to buy an IBOOK 12 inch as my portable, and when i am in my room hook up the 12 inch ibook to the 19/20/21 inch lcd screen and hook up a keyboard and mouse and use that as the desktop computer.

Dell lcds aren't popular, they are with universities because they are able to purchase the basic model units in bulk. The refresh rates on the most basic model is horrible, and you get burn-ins after 2 weeks of continuous usage.

You mentioned the 19" monitor, and I saw the only 19" on the Dell website, the UltraSharp 1905FP Flat Panel Monitor, and the refresh rate was 20ms (which is too high). If you are going to purchase an LCD monitor, then check out companies like BenQ (a good model is the FP937-D 19" ), LG (L1950S 19" LCD), Samsung (SyncMaster 191T+ 19"), or ViewSonic (VX2000 Flat panel display TFT - 20.1").

You know you could also buy LCD tvs (ie. Sony, Sharp, etc.) and double it up as both a computer monitor and television set.

hmmm most of those are over 500 dollars though, and i could easily get a 21 inch dell ultrasharp 21..FP for 380 dolllars. CNET gave it a 7.8 which was a pretty high score.

I just plan to do word processing, internet browsing, watch dvds, a simple game or two (i'll be using an ibook), basic stuff like that, nothing fancy like photoshop or video editing.

also whats a good refresh rate. why is the 20 ms too fast? does it make it look choppy or anything? i'm confused.

Thats a great monitor.
I am also thinking of buying one for a Mac mini I intend to purchase in the near future.
Its a gret steal compared to the 20" Apple monitors which are overpriced anyways.

is this 20 inches of pure screen or does that include the black border as well? I wanna get rid of the dell logo and put apple on it ha ha ha
