Why are threads moved to forums on different sites?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

By different forums I mean like drslounge.com, which requries you to register with their site. I'm just curious, really.

The threads are being moved because the Allopathic forum is for issues related to ALLOPATHIC medicine. While I agree that the issues being discussed are important and interesting, they are either a) not directly related only to Allopathic medicine (ie, may be of interest to Osteopaths, and allied health professionals and therefore should be in a General Interest Forum) and/or b) not specifically related to medical school or medicine itself.

I know its a pain to have to look for the threads but users really need to post threads with general interest and topics including politics, ethics, etc. in the Everyone Forum. The Allopathic forum is for topics of interest specific to Allopaths and while there is some leniency there (ie, I won't be moving all threads about, "which book should I use?" or "what airport do I fly into for an interview at program X?", there needs to be some direction.

If this proves a terrifically unpopular decision, I am glad to move them back.

BTW, the drslounge is part of SDN, but does require registration; it is not specifically a different site (ie, in reference to your statement about "their" site). If you're registered at SDN
( http://forums.studentdoctor.net/register.php ) then you can post there. There are no additional requirements.

If you're having difficulty posting, it's most likely because you need to log-in. The log-in box is at the top right of the page. Once you've logged in at DrsLounge.com, you shouldn't need to do it again.

There's a rowdy, undesirable element there that scares some people! :scared:
