why become a psychologist?

Why become anything else?
Psychology is all-encompassing. I can study virtually anything I want to. Can't beat that.

because if you're going to be obsessed with studying people anyway, you may as well get paid to do it.😀

Is this a general question, so that we can give you reasons to convince YOU to take this path, or why each of us have chosen this path?

My answer: my superego "guilted" me into it. 😉

... I looked over all the possible professions and (clinical) psychology was the only one that I could see myself doing.

Oh -- I forgot to mention that I did something else for a lot of years first. The money was much better and there was status. I had a nice office and my own assistant. No matter -- I wanted out. I found psychology and have never been sorry.

I think I just find people inherently fascinating. I never tire of trying to figure them out. That's why I'm here.
