Why did Tufts and Boston University Internal medicine residency applications decrease recently?

Potential IM applicant and I was looking at these two programs and it's kind of concerning that the number of applicants they had decreased recently. Is this a red flag?

No, it's not. There are lots of things that impact application numbers, and what's most important is the quality, not the quantity, of applications.

In any case, where are you getting this information? I haven't seen application numbers posted.
