Why can't the pre-allo forum have a few fun threads? How does it hurt?

SDN was much better back in the day (2007-08 cycle). We got great and helpful info and a lot of laughs. VERY fun for stressed out premeds.

The mods today take themselves much too seriously. Watch, they'll move this thread within 3 minutes.

While I do agree with you to a small extent, I think it would've been more appropriate if you had approached the mods via PM rather than calling them out like this.

I am kind of torn here. On one hand, it is nice to come on here and blow off some steam and joke around. On the other, I sometimes have some serious questions that I would like to get a serious answers to. Plus, things can get out of hand pretty fast.

I think that there is a happy medium somewhere in there.

I mean, for all you know half of the users on SDN could just be robots created to help bring more money-making traffic to the site.

It'd be better if they took the sub-forum group names and just made them link and not list every sub-forum within the group. But whatev.

Because when I am on SDN it is because I am using it as a small study break. Plus it is somewhat different to bull sh** on the net, and bull sh** with friends.

That was not my point though. My point was that it is possible to have a relevant conversation pertaining to pre-med, or what have you, and to have fun with off beat stuff at the same time, and even in the same thread.

By the way, and I am not saying this to kiss ***, I have not seen the mods be overly anxious in shutting down threads. In fact, they seem to let stuff go for a while before stepping in. But maybe I have just not seen what you are talking about OP.

I know of very few regular SDNers who aren't aware that there are other boards on here. There are ample unmoderated and offtopic boards on SDN. If you want that kind of outlet, use them, and encourage your friends who think likewise to use them. They were set up for this purpose. Don't whine on the pre-allo board about pre-allo being too focused on pre-allo topics. That's the goal. It's sort of like a smoker whining about having to go to a smoking designated area. That the area exists is accommodation enough -- no reason to try to force everyone else to breath your smoke just because you are unhappy about the lack of company in the smoking lounge. Just my two cents.

the best thread in the 07-08 cycle was the "2-7 AM CREW." it was raunchy sometimes, but usually funny, and often hilarious!!!!
