It's 1 : 38 a.m. I have two finals tomorrow (winter classes) one is worth 80 % of my grade..still have no studied another all - nighter.

One of the possibilities:
You're already admitted to your dream school and you don't have to care about how you do in school anymore. Right, bro?😎

I am gonna go with the assumption that going to medical school isn't THAT important to you.

Didn't u recently ask about acceptances being rescinded due to grades and u're doing waaaaaat??? Actually I'm not gonna get on ur case, bcos I do the same thing. I too suffer from an over-expression of the procrastination gene... I'm trying hard to stick to some routine but its tough bcos I've always "freestyled".. I'm sure u'll do well, goodluck.

Why do you do this to yourself?

Easy. Because you're a crammer with no time-management skills and questionable dedication to medicine who spends his time on SDN instead of studying - even when pulling an all-nighter before two VERY important finals.

Oh, waaaaaait. You wanted pity or empathy, right? Sorry. In that case, I TOTALLY GET WHAT YOU MEAN, DUDE. I MEAN, LIKE, THAT HAPPENED TO ME IN HIGH SCHOOL. BUT DON'T WORRY. I GRADUATED WITH A 2.7 AND HAD TO GO TO COMMUNITY COLLEGE. YOU CAN GO TO COMMUNITY MED SCHOOL. SEE? PROBLEM SOLVED.

:nono: :slap: :beat:

Not like anything we say is gonna get you to reevaluate your work ethic/study habits. Good luck on your finals.

/mean post

You consider the class a joke and doubt it'll be too difficult to pass.

👍 I rather hope you don't do well. Being able to become a doctor is a privilege, not a right. Some people really want it and are willing to sacrifice a lot to get it. You on the other hand, don't even seem willing to study...

Another possibility: you like the agony of waiting for your final grade to show up to see if you passed (and if you did, by how much).

In other words: masochism.

Cause it works for you, some people are just good crammers and can afford to procrastinate I guess.

You probably want to handicap and sabotage yourself by not studying for these finals.

That way, if you do well, then you're AWESOOOOOME~!

If you do badly, well, you didn't study until the night before.

Why challenge yourself like that - just stay on top of things. There really is enough time in the day to do what must be done according to your priorities if you eliminate distractions and use your time wisely.

Thanks to all those that wished me luck..most of you were actually right on with the reasons. I think the finals actually went somewhat well. I def need to not lose focus but senioritis is def. setting in hard.

As to the "the duck" why would you ever wish bad on anyone else, I've actually heard that it's bad luck and besides ever heard of karma?

Karma works both ways, you know. You half-ass your way through undergrad and you'll flunk out of grad, if you even get in.

Congrats on doing well on your finals despite being about as prepared as a middle schooler with a new video game!

It's not about what you are willing to do, it's about being able to get it done. If some one can get A's with minimal studying, it would be inefficient and stupid to spend more time studying just to show willingness to sacrifice. If the OP is of the few students who don't need as much studying (or if the OP is lying about not studying), then (s)he shouldn't rub in and make a thread about it. Nonetheless, your post is still baseless.

Some people really want it and are willing to sacrifice a lot to get it.

While that is very unfortunate for those people, effort is less important than results in the real world (for the most part).

Just to clarify - I posted the question because my friend and I had this discussion and I just wanted to see what people thought. The question was intended more for people to share their experiences as I'm sure other people procrastinate too. Anyways this was one of my worst cases I guess due to senioritis. Either way I wouldn't dare do this in medical school.

I suffer from procrastination as well. I started reading for my am gov class tonight and decided it was time to do laundry and clean the house. But tomorrow, I'm going to study!

I took one winter class, and my final was last night. I didn't start studying until an hour before the exam. Unless you felt completely lost, you're probably fine. Aside from particularly tough courses (that would NEVER be offered as winter classes), by your senior year you've already learned that showing up and paying attention is sufficient for most classes, in addition to whatever assignments are required.

In med school, you can't slack off the way you can in easier undergrad classes, but I'm sure you know that by now. From my understanding, the ability to absorb and understand information in less than 24 hours will benefit you greatly, since in many med school classes, you don't have the luxury of time to make note cards (or whatever you normally do) to study. You have to process LOTS of information in an uncomfortably short period of time. If you can do that now and succeed, you're in good shape 🙂
