I know there are 5 states that require it, but what about those people who dont plan on practicing in those states? Why do they do a trad rotating year? Do they scramble into them or go by choice?

Does it help in getting better/competitive residencies when they apply? Would you apply to residencies while your doing the TR year? Are you paid during the TR year?

from what i understand all osteopathic residencies have a one year traditional rotating year so the only way around it is to go to an MD residency. i may be wrong though.

What about those people who do a trad year then go on to do a md residency?

Does the trad year count as the intern year for DO residencies?
