Why do students go to Caribbean when they can do SMP?

30 MCAT is not very low.

Agreed, which is why a SMP is good if you have a low GPA AND a strong MCAT. The thing about people who elect to go the Carib route is that most don't have that high MCAT score. If they didn't get accepted to any MD schools, they could either try D.O. schools, try Caribbean schools, try MD schools again, etc. However, unless they revamp their MCAT score, they might not get admitted to a SMP program to begin with.

+1

I applied to Georgetown SMP last year and was rejected. I have a low MCAT score. It's probably what hurt me the most.
