Why do the dental students study from USMLE books?

Just curious as to why I see so many dental students at my school carrying around USMLE books? Are they all going to try out for the OMFS residency?

Nope but the first two years of dental school are similar enough to the first 2 years of med school that the USMLE books are good review for the first part of the dental boards. There are so few dental students that there isn't a big enough market for anyone to create a really good dental-specific study guide. So many just use the USMLE books instead.
