Hi! I'm still looking at schools to apply to, but I was wondering what do you feel is the best part that your school has to offer? What are the reasons you choose to attend the school? Fate? luck?:luck:

We don't have grades. I'd be failing my preclinical classes if we did.

damn good brownies

Well since we won't make the basketball NCAA tourny this year, I would say Kentucky football... j/k

Faculty and students are very friendly, clinic experience by Sept of second year, mainly perio and restorative, crowns by end of second year, and techniquely you could do endo but not many people do.

Small classes, just ~55 people accepted per year

haha sweet... alright then thx!

Here are some of the things that I like about USCSD

*Special patients clinic- gets you exposed to dealing with patients with special needs or medically compromised patients.

*Sports dentistry selective - pretty self explanatory

*LAC-USC County Hospital Rotation- Lots of experience with extractions, and OS Case observation. This is a high volume hospital with lots of pt diversity.

*IV Sedation Team: 8 people from each class get to learn IV sedation for Stanley Malamed, and receive a certificate to perfrom IV Sedation upon graduation/licensure. (a $10,000 value).

*Center Craniofacial and Molecular Biology - numerous research opportunities.

*Oral Facial Pain Center - nice place to learn some on hands oral pathology identification, TMJ management..etc

*AYUDA- a nonprofit mobile clinic affiliated with USC that provides free dental care to LA area kids, that runs about 2 weekends/month, plus at least 2 big trips a year to Latin/Central American countries. Tons of operative experience and a chance to give back to the community.

*Queens Care 1 & 2 - Nonprofit mobile children's dental clinics that set up at elementary schools.

* Children's Dental Clinic (CDC)- an off campus rotation providing comprehensive pediatric dental care. This is in addition to our pediatric clinic at the main campus.

*Union Rescue Mission- Off campus clinic offering dental care to the indigent/homeless community. This one is great because all we have to do is just show up and be prepared to do some dentistry, we have dental assistants, no pt scheduling issues. We see 2-3 patients in the morning and 2-3 in the afternoon. It is the closest experience to acutally working in a private practice that I have had at USC.

* 3 dental fraternities * I get lots of extra CE courses through my dental fraternity.

* USC Mobile Clinic- USC sponsored mobile dental clinic that provides care to Southern California communities. Can get extra experience on the weekends as well.

* CMDT Mobile Clinic -This is another pediatric dental clinic.

*Pt population- very diverse backgrounds, gets lots of experience dealing with varying socio-econmic backgrounds. Great place to perfect my Spanish!

*World Reknown Dental Experts- great resources and research opportunities.

* USC sports

* The dental school is on the main university campus.

Hey, I have been trying to find a USC Dental student who can actually tell me the real deal about the school, not just people who know about the school or heard about it. 🙂 You're a 4th year right?? How do you like PBL, and do you feel it prepared or even was more advantageous for preparing you for the Boards? What are the pros and cons? I really like the school, and was accepted, so like anyone, I want to make a good decision. Thanks for your time!🙂

cool NVDental---those are some great things I could look into for choosing a school

That helps because I'm looking at some schools in the west coast also, and possibly doing the east coast to west coast switch for school.

I really enjoy North Philly...
