So this question, we've answered in multiple essays in our med school apps.

However, I know that this will also be a #1 question my interviewer would ask during my interview.

I'm trying to prepare and organize my reply so just so I can get things straight in my mind, so I'm just jotting things down in order how I want to say things.

However, I realized that when the interviewer asks me this question, I don't want to give him a five minute speech about how I've wanted to be a doc since I was young, and how I did this and that and other things I talked about in my AMCAS or secondaries.

So my question is, during these interviews, and especially for this question, would the interviewer simply let me talk and give my full story?

OR would it be more like a back to back conversation where I'd want to prepare a very short and few sentence long reply to start off?

I thought this was a good place to start. Take what he says as a grain of salt, but basically, you need to answer when and why. You got about 2 min to talk about your specific personal experiences and examples. This question is part of "Who are you?" type of question.

Most people's answers are you like science/medical academia/pathosis + you want to help people.

Just tie that to your life experiences and goals
