Hey!! I am just wondering why people are withdrawing their application so early in the game? Even if you don't feel like you have a very good chance at a school, do you gain anything from withdrawing?? I noticed that there are many people withdrawing both here and on Predents...why withdraw?? I am just wondering. Is there something I don't know but should??

i guess some people learned something new about the school that would prevent them from going even if they were accepted. it's still a good idea to go and see for yourself but your wallet would argue otherwise.

I withdrew from Texan schools because of their low, out-of-state acceptance rate. My GPA isn't high enough to get in.

I had applied before I discovered predents.com, and since not every school website gives their entry statistics, I wasn't aware that such a small number of out-of-staters were admitted.

I saved time, money, and having to face another rejection!

The only school I withdrew from was because I couldn't fulfill the requirements by the summer. It would've been nice to check out the place, but it would've been pointless.

i think some people withdraw b/c they applied to A LOT of schools not knowing how many interviews they would get, and now that they have a lot, they are realizing that they cannot swing all of them financially and are therefore having to withdraw from some schools. it seems that way from a couple of posts i have seen on here.

I withdrew from UCLA and UCSF because theres no way i can fulfill their psychology requirement (i'll be in japan for the year)

I withdrew from AZ because they didn't treat me very well at the interview. I withdrew from DM, NJ, Iowa, and Michigan because I can't afford to go to my interviews there. 9 is enough for me🙂 I am not a rich man.

what is the procedure for withdrawing from a school? I am curious.

Do you call them up and tell them or do you send them a letter or is there some other kind of procedure?

You're an interview beast! Haha. 😎

I just called, they asked why at AZ. I told them. Most schools appreciate the call.

I have withdrawn from Loma Linda, VCU, Baylor, Temple, and AZ because I applied to a lot of schools and those were at the bottom of my list. I have 9 interviews also and I did not want to interview anymore either because of the same reason as dsmack. Well I guess I would have went to Loma Linda but I was lazy and I did not want to fill out there secondary.
To withdraw I just called and let them know, but I have heard they will still send you a rejection letter. They are nice about it and are appreciative.

BTW-why do you care utahdad are we not just opening more spots up for you and other SDNers?

I applied to 10 schools at first b/c I hadn't taken the DAT yet and wanted to make sure to apply to a few safety schools. Once I took the DAT and received some interviews, I felt comfortable enough to not bother to go to some of the interviews.

I withdrew my application from Loma Linda since I couldnt complete the secondary application. I knew I couldnt do it so I withdrew it. Wish I would have known before I applied.

Seriously, everyone seems to hate the LLU supp. Is it really that bad? Don't hold back, just tell it like it is. Should I be glad that they haven't dropped one on me yet?

I withdraw from Arizona, because I am too lazy to fill out their secondaries, and I will withdraw from Temple, because I dont think I want to live in Philly.

I filled it out, its not as bad as everyone says. they have 7 mini essays to answer but you're only supposed to write 150 words max for each. its like 1 paragraph. i finished it pretty quick. but you also need to have teachers and your religious leader fill out a reccomendation form and get a dentist to verify your shadowing which is kind of a pain.

I also withdrew from Loma Linda bc i didnt/ couldnt complete their secondary.

thinking of withdraw from Creighton.. really dont know much about that school and just dont think i will want to live in Nebraska for 4 years.. 😛
