Does anyone know the rationale behind NYCOM waiting until Nov. to start inviting applicants for interviews? I am interviewing at some other schools but am really interested in TUCOM and NYCOM, and it's frustrating b/c I would like to see NYCOM or interview there before I have to put down 2000 at Touro. So I was curious if there was any reason why they wait so long.

They're stupid if they do. They could lose a lot of prospective students by waiting that long. Maybe they want to wait to offer acceptances until after Nov. 14th so you have no more than a month to accept a position there (ie lots of acceptances = PAYDAY for NYCOM).

Doesn't make sense to me. But maybe that's how they've always done things? A student there would be able to answer this better...

NYCOM says on its website that they interview from November to May, meaning that people should start to be invited for interviews in October, because most schools give around a month between invite and interview. So they probably start reviewing applications soon, if they haven't yet. So, get your LORs in so they can start reviewing your file (I however cannot do this yet due to Katrina!) I think their interview timeframe is pretty smart

They have a niche with students who apply late or are not satisfied with the interviews/acceptances they have.

Plus by waiting until a time when most application materials should be in they can probably do a class action decision round with most applicants to choose from...smart...

NYCOM contacted me today but not for an interview they just wanted to know if I was taking my second semester of physics, b/c their processing the apps now, so the interview notice will def. become in soon for some people. The lasy told me to send a transcript to them in december so does that mean they won't process my app. until december, b/c that would really suck, and that means i really need to start studying for physics 🙁

I doubt they will not process you without it

They just want to make sure you have it before enrolling.

How did they contact you? do you already have a Bachelor degree?

ugh, NYCOM is my first choice (i'm not applying til next year though), so it is nice to be able to hear about this before i am in all of your shoes.

i look forward to hearing more about NYCOM and the process to apply there...

good luck with all this asm, it certainly is aggrivating to wait. are you a NY resident? how are your stats if you dont mind my asking?

you might be able to ask touro for an extension on your deposit if you word it properly. talk to your advisor about doing this. i think it's worth a shot! also, maybe contact NYCOM, explain your situation and see what happens. just my opinion though...

They didn't contact me for an interview they just wanted to clarify the physics thing and then they would process the app, so people with complete apps might be hearing from them soon b/c the lady e-mailed me yesterday. But I sent in the primary app in august.

Arghh... my stats are 3.65 science GPA, 3.72 overall, 24 MCAT(7P,8V,9B). I am currently scheduled to interview at Touro and PCOM within the next month, and so this is really frustrating, but hey, c'est lavie....
