Hey everyone,
I'm new to this site so bear with me if I trail off or don't post accordingly...I have a few questions. I'm an undergrad college sophomore currently a chem major, though may switch to biochem in the future. Presently, I recieved an A in chem I, and B in chem II, and am taking biology and 15 other creds at a community college until I transfer to University of Maryland College Park for spring semester. Do all dental schools accept community college science credits? I heard a few different things...
Also, any specific time I should start volunteering, heh, I think I probably should be doing it now but Im kinda just getting used to 18 creds, and its really not bad...how would I go about volunteering? Just waltz into an office? Well I hope someone reads this hehe...and its either dentistry or neuorology for me...au revoir! Thanks!🙂

neuropimp,

I believe that your credits at community college will be acceptable as long as your school is accredited but call each dental school to make sure. Regarding volunteering, you can call dental office for an appointment, and then ask a dentist in person.

Welcome to SDN! 🙂

They do accept community college credits if the school is accredited. They do however like to see some of your science classes taken at a university level. In their eyes those classes are more rigorous and challenging. Some dental schools have a minimum requirement of hours you need to take at a four year university. Contacting the schools you want to apply to is the safest bet.

For my observing I simply opened the phone book and made some calls. I told them who I was, what I was doing, and if they would be allow me to come in and observe/assist if possible. For the most part they are happy to help.
