My mailing date was 8/6
I applied to Nova, Temple, Tufts, NYU, BU, and Pittsburgh.
I have a 3.7 overall and a 3.6 science, and a 20/20/16 on the DAT AA/TS/PAT

I have emails from all of the schools stating they've received my application, but no under reviews--especially on aadsas

With these stats what are my chances of getting in? Why haven't i heard from anyone about being under review?

Now the only bad part of my application is that i "failed" out of school--aka i've been told to repeat the first year of medical school (i'm a dental student). I passed the dental curriculum, but in my school, if you don't pass the medical classes (same as med students) then you don't move on. I was not given the opportunity to re-mediate (even though i barely missed the pass)

Anyways, i'm back to go somewhere else. All other areas of my app are great, fantastic letters, great personal statement, TONS of dental experience (shadowing, volunteering, etc)

What are my chances?
Hoping to go to Nova, but haven't had any status updates from then since i submitted my secondary on 8/2...Any thoughts?

Expecting too much way too soon. Go have some fun and don't sit at the computer waiting for the "under review" status to pop up. Some schools don't participate in updating AADSAS

haha, well i'm nervous nervous :scared::scared:

i don't have that crazy 21/21/22 score congrats on that, looking really good

how do you think my "situation" effects my application? positive because i have more experience, passed my dental classes, or negatively because i couldn't learn about the foot?

I had the 8-6 mailing too, and my aadsas has under review for nova and pitt also vcu and kentucky.

My application is still waiting for 2 letters and DAT mailing out on the 20th.

u guys have heard from tufts? was it by email or snail mail?

my mailing was 7/30 but haven't heard ANYTHING from tufts, usc, ucla , ucsf, or michigan.

thats what i was afraid of...when did your nova update to under review? I have my letters and dat already in.
I called, and left a message to Ms Zarrett, and sent an email a few days later. Should i just keep calling "954-262-1108 or 800-356-0026 ext 1108"

Has anyone ever gotten through to them?

nothing from tufts

I got under review for NOVA on 8-5. Mailed out on 8-6.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but the fact that you failed out the first year doesn't look good. I think one of the reasons that dental school is so selective is so that they don't get students that don't make it.

Why do you think you didn't pass your first year? If you think you can do it the second time around, and you know what you need to do, make sure that the dental schools know this, otherwise I think your chances are slim.

My mailing date was 7/30 also and i have the same concern. Haven't heard anything from Tufts nor from UCLA. 😕

yeah i understand, but i don't go to a normal dental school. Unfortunately, we take all the med classes as well as the dental classes. I passed every single dental class very well. The medical school, well as a dentist it's hard to learn about the foot. I failed the extremities (arms, legs, hands feet), Reproductive systems (how baby making machine works) and GI system (how you poop) --so clearly i failed the highly relevant stuff for dentistry. I addressed this in my essay

Quick question though, wouldn't I atleast go to under review before being rejected? I have good entrance stats...

I hope you are not addressing it as an excuse... b/c there are rumors that schools do not want to hear excuses.

what dental school did you go to, columbia? i know they take all the same classes with the med students.

I have to agree with Veloce....the medical/science curriculum is super important to dental schools....if you can't hack it, it doesn't look good.....(but im no admissions officer)

plopper, even though you took the class with medical students, you probably take the same classes without them in other schools. I don't think that the curriculum is that much different between dental schools.
