Why do you want to be a PT?

I just want to know the public's reason for choosing Physical Therapy as a career.

Because for me, I want to be a PT because I'd like to see people get back to their independence and doing what they love (sports, shopping, name it). Without Physical Therapy, those people who had stroke or were in an accident can't even walk or do basic movements.

I used to be on the pre-med route, but didn't like all of the specifics I had to learn like microbiology, which I found completely boring. PT allows me to apply more of what I love: anatomy and biomechanics. I also love the manual skills we use, whether it's a joint mobilization or assisting a patient with a lateral transfer.

I like being able to work closely with the person and develop a friendship professionally. Also, PT allows me to have a direct impact on improving people's mobility where I can see their progress. It's a profession that's challenging, mentally stimulating, and rewarding. 🙂
