I was looking at UNSOM (University of Nevada School of Medicine - Reno) and their residency programs (in particular those located in Las Vegas), and I noticed something odd. I would say 3/4 of their residents attended a Med School outside of the U.S., especially that of Grenada, West Indies. Almost all of their pediatric residents come from outside of the U.S. Is this common? I've looked at other programs, and it seems like more students from the U.S. schools or usually an equal majority of each. I have nothing against people who attend med school outside of the U.S., but just found it very odd that almost all of their residents went to school outside of the U.S. Anyone know why this is? 😕 🙂

I am sure you know this, but the West Indies houses a lot of med schools catered towards students who did not get into US schools (www.sgu.edu, www.ross.edu). I guess UNSOM is very IMG friendly.
