I have done 2 years of research in undergrad but have no pubs. I'm also not applying md/phd. Is it a bad idea to say I want to go to this school because of the research opportunities despite this? I don't want to get a PhD or anything but doing some research on the side would be nice. (not really a dealbreaker for me though if im completely honest)

As long as you don't just say "research opportunities" and back it up with some substance. For instance, do they have specialized institutes/faculty that you wouldn't find at similar institutions?
