Does anyone know why schools ask you in interviews if you are planning on taking the DAT again? I did fairly well on it (19AA, 23RC, 18 PAT), certainly I thought I knew much more material than that grade shows, but I don't think that I am going to retake it. Everyone is telling me that I should be answering that I AM taking it again. I don't want to answer it that I am retaking it if I am not planning on doing it! I am trying to understand the purpose behind such a question. Any help would be very appreciated.

if somebody asked me during an interview if i plan to retake the DAT, that would raise a red flag for me. 19 AA is great though! i'm wondering what pulled your average down if you scored 23 in RC. if you got 17 or less in more than one subject area, you might want to take it again. but it really depends on your GPA, where you went to school, shadowing, research, volunteering, leadership, ad naseum.

honestly though? i don't think you have anything to worry about!

What's your TS score? Which school told you that? Some schools want to see TS >= 20

that's harsh.. it's nerve wrecking when you get a question like that in ur interview. it's a confidence killer because worried if u answered the question correctly or not.

i believe u should answer the question honestly. there's not sense in telling them ur retaking if u're not planning on doing so.

as for your score, 19AA should be fine, unless u have 16 or below on any area. but if they've already interview u, they're probably willing to look past that.

How about you asking them when they pop the question. Just say: "Why do you ask? Do I need to retake it to get in here?"

See what feedback they give you. After all, an interview is a two-way street. They want to find out about you, and viceversa.

Just a thought.

I think this one is a pretty good retort. I would just be cautious on my wording.
It definitely is a ballsy approach.

Thank you all so much for responding. I asked a good friend of mine (he was a student on the ad. com.) and he said to be honest if I wasn't planning on retaking the test, and to also ask them if I need to retake it to have a shot at their school. Looks like you guys are right on par! I really appreciate all your responses! Thanks again!
