Hey guys! I have been skulking around this website for about a year now and have learned that you all love to give good advice! I'm an Alaskan reapplicant (applied late last cycle) and was hoping to gain some insight from any WICHE applicants and get some school choice feedback for this cycle.
Last cycle:
3.3cGPA
3.0sGPA
20AA 18TS (16 Bio, 19 GC, and 21 OC) 25 RC 18 QC 19 PAT
I have tons of dental hours, tons of work experience, plenty of volunteering, great LORS, and my statement is pretty good too.
Applied to:
UW, OHSU, Colorado, MWU-AZ, ASDOH, MInn, Mich, Marquette, UCSF, UOP. Later I added NYU, Western, Loma Linda, USC, Tufts, and Roseman. I was fortunate to Interview at Roseman and NYU despite adding them to AADSAS in October and was eventually, and still am, wait listed by them.
Since last year I've learned how important applying early is and how better to pick schools that one is suited for. I wasn't planning on retaking the DAT either. This cycle I intend to apply to: UW, Western, Loma Linda, Roseman, NYU, Tufts, Marquette, Colorado, MWU-AZ, MWU-IL, Mosdoh, UNLV, WVU, Creighton, LECOM, and maybe UNE and/or Boston.
What do you guys think? Do you think applying early will help this time? Is there any sort of "preference" or edge for a WICHE candidate? Any schools I should remove/add? Also how much change should be implemented for my personal statement? The meat of it about why I chose dentistry hasn't changed. Can I keep that part the same and alter the other half and add what I've been doing lately? Thanks for any feedback in advance!
