Anybody else been accepted to and attending Widener this fall? I just sent my deposit last week and now that getting into a DPT program is taken care of I'm starting to work on tying up those loose ends that coincide with acceptance. Primarily that of housing and financial aide. All very exciting and confusing. And in some ways seemingly more painstakingly difficult than actually getting into the program...I'm sure this all would be a hell of a lot easier if we communicated with each other sooner than later. Don't be a stranger...

Im going to Widener in the fall too! Congrats on your acceptance!

Thanks, congrats to you too! Have you made any plans for housing? I haven't had the time to really actively look into it just yet. I just got the shared housing info via email this past weekend but haven't made any attempts to contact anybody. Facebook stalked a few of the names listed but thats about it....

I haven't made any definite plans yet. I'm pretty familiar with the area though so I have been looking into things and have some ideas of where I'll end up but am waiting until July to make a decision. I still need to mail back the housing contact info form.

I see. Are you from that PA/NJ/DE area?

I wouldn't say I'm "familiar", but i do have a basic understanding of the area, I guess. I live in Baltimore now but have lived in Philly for a little, a while back, and have some of friends in the area. More towards South Jersey side. However, I'd prefer to try and find something with someone in the DPT program. I'm not going to start pressuring myself too much into locking something down until late June though. Still just developing some ideas of my own.

I looked for a group for Widener DPT 2014 on Facebook but there is none. I tried to create one but apparently you have to invite people you already know from your buddy list to make it official. So, that means i need friend someone from the incoming class. Its either that or I'm ******ed and the task is just to great for my basic computer skills. Do you have a Facebook page? If so, shoot me a message with the necessary info and we can get one for the program up and running. I feel like Facebook may be a little more mainstream and make it easier to open up the lines of communication between fellow classmates.

Congrats dieharddoug and szer!! I am still in undergrad but plan to apply to Widener once I am ready. If comfortable enough, would you mind sharing your GPA and GRE info with me just so I can have a ballpark idea of what they are accepting. Thanks!

No problem.

Overall GPA: 2.85
Pre-Req's GPA: 3.3
GRE:
V-540, M-650, W-4.0
Clinic Hours:
1500 Outpatient-Orthopedic(paid), 30 Inpatient-Geriatric(volunteer)

I feel like some background info is necessary...Im def. a non-traditional applicant. My undergrad degree was actually in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland. I was a student athlete for the terps, competing in both Track and Field, and Cross Country. So that major was chosen due to the fact that I was marginally interested in it and it was relatively easy, allowing me to fully focus on athletics. Which is why the undergrad GPA is so low. Anyway it wasn't until several years after i had graduated, after I had pursued policing a little, that I realized it wasn't for me. Having a few friends that went into the field, realizing I lots of related experience through athletics, and after much soul searching, I felt i could really excel and enjoy physical therapy. So anyway, After finding out what I needed to get into a program I went back to school part time, while working full time. I also changed my working schedule so I could get paid experience in a physical therapy clinic. And here I am....I Hope that helps you out at all. I do feel my stats aren't the greatest but i think my background info did make me a better candidate. Good luck with the application process!
