Will a high GPA in a science masters program offset a low UGPA?

If I pursue a master of Biomedical Sciences degree and earn a high gpa (4.0) would that offset or erase any poor grades from my undergraduate years?

Will it help me get into an MD program?

No. MS grades arent really weighed by Med Schools because some (not all, mine does not for instance) use grade inflation. I know it sucks, but that is just the reality of the situation.

If you want to offset a a bad undergrad GPA, do a post bacc or SMP (if your MCAT is good enough). Be warned though, the SMP is high risk high reward so if you do less than stellar, your chances of ever getting in are essentially zero.

Research MS? No
SMP? Yes. But you'll still need to have DO schools on your list, as beggars can't be choosers.

Sub 3.0 sGPA from undergrad checking in. Did very well in an SMP/MCAT. Sitting on two MD acceptances now. Figure out why you screwed up in undergrad, correct those bad habits, take an SMP or do significant post-bacc work, and let the changes you made speak for themselves.
