I withdrew from biology this semester because of personal issues (I withdrew from half of my courses that weren't my major and switched to CR/NC for the rest of my major courses). I thought that a W would be better than an F (as I could not complete my course schedule as intended), but I was wondering if the W would look bad in and of itself if I take the class next semester and ace it?

A W here or there can happen, just don't make a habit of it. Ace that class when you retake and don't worry about it!

That exactly what the W is for.

But you could have failed the course and still end up in med school.

If it makes you feel better, I have a W on my transcript. And now I am starting at a MD school this July.
