Well my uncle owns a pizza shop and I deliver for him. I don't report any of my earnings because he doesn't give me a check. I make all of my money off tips. Will I be able to post this job on my App in the future?

Okay to list, especially if you worked during school. It shows time management skills; "real-world" experience (not typical pre-med stuff). I would group it with other side jobs on AMCAS though.

Slightly off topic, but the job I had in HS and UG received tips and I definitely had to declare them to the IRS and pay taxes on the income.

Also, yes, list this activity.

Sounds like your uncle was taking advantage of your free labor, haha.

But no, it definitely won't hurt you to list it if you have the room.

How would one list this though? I help out at my parent's restaurant without any real pay. Would it be a job or volunteer?

What does "real pay" mean? Do you make any money at all?

They're not going to ask you about your pay situation or for your W-2's.

It's a job. You worked. That's good.

I get occasional money for gas and sometimes the tips. It would be better to post as a job I guess.

You made money so it wasn't volunteer. Just list it as a job and describe what you did. Nobody is going to care if you were paid minimum wage or below it.

I started working in my parents' business when I was old enough to hold a feather duster. I didn't get a paycheck but they fed me and educated me and I now earn a living that does not involve a cash register or a feather duster. It was work, not volunteerism. I've served with at least 2 other adcom members (both physicians) with similar family backgrounds -- we know how it goes.
