Hi everyone,

I am a Canadian applicant and recieved my scores yesterday and I am not very happy with them (29S, 11PS/07VR/11BS). I have already been verified and applied to a bunch of schools such as Rosalind Franklin, Wayne state, Michigan, VCW, GW etc. I am thinking of retaking the MCAT in Sep now. However, I do not want schools to put my application on hold because of the MCAT score. If I don't update the new MCAT scheduled date on AMCAS, does it automatically get updated on AMCAS or schools will have no way of knowing about it until they get the score?
Also, if they do get the new score and were not expecting it, do they go back and review the application again?

will AMCAS, a service by the AAMC know if you are taking the MCAT, a test administered by the AAMC? yes

also yes...and they don't evaluate your application until the updated scores are in

That is my question. If I don't mention the date on AMCAS, will they still know a second score is on the way and put it on hold?

yeah, you'll be put on hold. when you register for the MCAT, the info is automatically loaded into AMCAS even if you already submitted.

I see this question here constantly and I do not understand it. Why on earth would you retake the MCAT if you don't want schools to know that you're retaking? If your first score couldn't hack it, then you WANT schools to put you on hold so that you can show them your best side. They're only going to look at you once. If you hide that you're retaking, (which you can't) then they'll just reject you outright with your old score and you'll have wasted everyone's time.

Also, if they do get the new score and were not expecting it, do they go back and review the application again?

No.
