First of all I would like to say how grateful I am to find this forum a month in advance! I am taking the DAT July 11th, and just wanted to get yalls (sorry from Georgia) opinion on what my schedule/materials are. (About 7 weeks)

I am a bio major, and read the the Kaplan BB bio section twice already and feel like biology will not be too much of an issue. After reading this forum for 2-3 hours last night, I am going to purchase Chad's Videos today or tomorrow to help with the poor quality of the OC and GC sections from Kaplan. I really do not have the money to purchase DAT destroyer at the time, so I was wondering if yall think I would be prepared with for the OC and GC sections with those two sources. I got A's in GC and B's in OC/BioChem, so Im scared I may not be tested enough with the proper format of questions to be prepared for the actual test.

As for PAT, I will be studying the Kaplan, and online videos. And for the QR going through Kaplan and GRE books for practice.

I know my resources are limited, but I was just looking for any tips/advice on my situation/resources. Thanks so much! Im looking forward to this stressful 7 weeks with yall!

Find a way to get the Destroyer...its very helpful. Ask a friend if you need to, borrow some money, try very hard to get this book.

I know you are a bio major, but I'd still recommend not relying entirely on the blue book for that section. I'm a microbiology major, and I still found some pretty tricky questions on the test. The material isn't difficult, it's the random questions they throw at you that is annoying.

For bio, I'd at least look into Cliffs AP biology (10$), and Schaum's Outline for Biology (10$ or so, been a while since I bought it)

Is Schaum's that much different than Cliff's? I have Cliff's and am wondering if it covers everything Schaum's does, or does it have other stuff.

Schaum's goes into more detail, it has some information that Cliff's does not, though it is a bit harder to read and extract meaningful information from. I liked Schaum's, personally. I thought it was worth the 10 dollars.

I have Cliff's AP. Personally, I find it a cold read. I find my mind wandering often and just want to fall asleep. But, the good thing about it is that it's very straightforward and doesn't go into too much depth. Each chapter isn't so long either. But I think it's missing some important information though. For instance, I took a Topscore test yesterday, and the answer couldn't be found in that book.

I can't condone seeing someone short-change their DAT preparations.

I am sorry to say, KBB + chads isn't enough for GC & Orgo. Unless your packing a 140+ I.Q, you will need destroyer (or some other resource that has plenty of practice so you can apply knowledge to problem solving)

Its simple really, for the home-study applicant:
GC + orgo = KBB or chads + DAT destroyer
Biology = Ciffs AP (most important) + KBB (least important)
PAT = no questions about it, Crack DAT PAT if you aren't naturally gifted
RC = not enough resources, doesn't matter what you get, prolly never be enough
QR = Math destroyer (or some like Crack DAT math ~ I have no experience with it)..... Math Destroyer is more popular IMO

Thats about it. Anything less than these resource and only 2 outcomes can be:
1) your naturally gifted, you never needed them (the unlikely outcome)
2) you'll end up with a less-than-satisfactory score, you'll either end up retaking, or worse, applying and blowing god knows how much and not getting in (the more likely outcome)

sorry, I don't mean to sound condescending, I've seen a few people get burned with these strategies and I'd rather not see it again.

+2👍👍

I also suggest Exam Crackers 1001 question booklets for ochem and gchem. Though, I think destroyer is prob better it is pretty good for more questions.
