Odds are with 16 schools and your solid DAT scores, you'll get at least one interview. Especially if you have done well since Freshman year.

You should get a couple interviews w/ those DATs. Where'd you graduate from?

i hope you get an acceptance w/ that dat! i was counting on the low gpa high dat combo too. (poor grades from 5 years ago)

If all the OP bombed was freshman year he is guaranteed admission to more that one school!

I'm hoping for a similar situation myself. Except I took a slight nose dive during school transfers, and then popped my grades back up a bit in my senior year. :scared:

Apparently don't apply to Case w/ that GPA from what I've read on these forums.

Unless you have something else that looks bad on your app, (such as getting in trouble, etc) then you most likely will get accepted. I interviewed with a guy at Tufts with a 2.7 GPA, but had a 26AA. I interviewed at 7 schools all across the country, and everywhere had people with lower GPAs. As long as you can show that it was a 'freshman thing' and that you're very committed, than you'll have no problem getting in.

If you look at it from an admissions point of view, then you want to accept students with low GPAs and high DATs. When putting together a class, they don't want all students with 4.0 GPAs and 25 DATs. This will create a lot of gunners and super academic achievers in the class, and it will create an immensely competitive class. This isn't good for the faculty or the students. Therefore, they try to make a balanced class with very diverse backgrounds, both personally and academically.
