if you can improve your mcat, then you should be ok. Good luck.

I agree with wannabeDO... just boost your mcat and you'll be okay. Try to aim for 25+ range. :luck:

FrodoMD,

Make sure that the minute aacomas and amcas apps are available online (I'm not exactly sure when, but they should be available now for the application process for the entering class of 2005)--FILL THEM OUT AND HAVE THEM SENT IN ASAP!! Request ALL of your transcripts to be sent immediately to both application services from each institution that you attended, they like to take their time.

Don't be discouraged. Being that you have the MINIMUM requirements for "most" DO schools and some MD schools, you can only better your chances of getting in by applying extremely early. I know someone personally with a lower MCAT score than yours who got a few interviews at some good MD schools and DO schools with a couple of acceptances also, but this person applied really early. Also, I know some people at a good MD program with lower MCAT scores than that also, but this person's gpa was rather high... nonetheless, nothings impossible.

I am not sure, but it appears that you may be a non-traditional student (age-wise), if this is so, that can work in your favor also--especially the RN experience. With this background, you can express to the DO or MD programs that you understand the rigors of DO or MD life and that is what you truly wish to do as a career.

No matter what though, kill the admissions boards with an excellent personal statement and only send in letters of rec. that you can trust to be good.

If you have any more questions, just PM me.

Good luck!

Good Luck!

One can get in with a low MCAT score if their GPA is high, or a low GPA if their MCAT is high - I don't think it's possible though with both a low GPA and a low MCAT. The high post-bac GPA helps, but you need to get your MCAT up into the 25+ range as Dr Cutie said.

Your MCAT is a bit low. Improve to something near the mid-twenties and you would have a good chance. If you want to apply with the 19, you better apply as early as possible!!!
