Should I apply this cycle and if so do y'all think I am on a good track to land some interviews. Here are my stats. I transferred from UNC Chapel Hill to NC State due to some personal circumstances. UNC gpa: 3.28 (Got all A’s and B’s here except for a Bio Lab freshman year where I got a C+ and had to retake gen chem 1 so I got a D, so I feel these hurt my gpa some). NC State gpa: 3.9 by the time I apply (I had to retake gen chem 2 but I am going to grade replace it and am getting an A this time around, Ive gotten all As here so far and one B). CC gpa: 4.0 (did some duel enrollment classes in high school and summer classes during college).
Science GPA (havent taken Orgo or Physics yet): 3.0 (Gotten As and Bs except for C+ in bio lab and retaking chem twice). Taking both Orgos and Physics this summer but I am applying when the application opens if I do apply. I was in Pre-dental club at UNC (delta delta sigma) and ski team/club at UNC both years
I was the social coordinator for the pre health club at NC State, and I was in Pre-dental club here, and ski team/club and played intramural soccer and volleyball with friends. I will have roughly 250-300 volunteer hours (dental and nondental). And about 100-120 shadowing hours with a few general dentists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, and prosthodontists. I have worked at my dad’s dental office (he is a general dentist) since 2018 every summer. So I have over 1000 hours of working there. Dealing with patient files, working front desk, cleaning up some rooms, and I shadowed here some too but not really counting the shadowing since it is my dads office. I have done one mom clinic and have been a volunteer at a non-profit dental office for over a year (I have about 150hrs of volunteering here). I am taking DAT in May and hope to get higher than a 19 (whatever is equivalent to new scoring).
Am I looking like a good applicant? I am in NC so I am in state for ECU and UNC, both schools I will be applying to. Also applying to some out of state schools (most of the ones that take some out of state). Really interested in NOVA and MUSC and Louisville tho!
