Hello Friends,

I'm a 29-year old non-traditional human living in Texas who aspires to be a physician (MD/DO). I'm posting this in hopes to gather guidance as I know where I want to be, but don't know how to get there. My academicst include a completed undergrad in biomedical science with a GPA of 3.2-completed in 2018 and 2 masters in science and MBA with GPA of 3.7-completed in 2021. Yes, having 2 masters is perhaps not the best but at the time I was lost and took the opportunities that came my way in hopes of improving my GPA. Since then I've worked as a urology scribe for a DO urologist/surgeon, and in clinical research organizations such as Astrazeneca as a clinical research associate for the past 3 years. I've gotten the chance to travel to Italy/India for specific clinical research associate. I' ve not taken the MCAT because I'm scared of not making it which I realize I'm losing time.

With this brief background my questions are:

1. What would be the best approach as to perhaps completing a post-bach to raise my GPA or get accepted into a masters programs from the AACM website in which i could potentially achieve an interview if done successfully? (I know going for a 3rd masters seems insane)

2. Does my 3 years of employment as a clinical research in astrazeneca count towards clinical research?

3. Apart from studying hard for the mcat and scoring high, what else can I do to improve my chances?

(Apologies for the spelling mistakes and grammar as I'm typing after a long day of traveling for work).

Role of CRA (Clinical Research Associate (CRA) in clinical operations you are responsible for setting up, coordinating and supervising clinical studies. You plan, prepare and help carry out clinical trials to test new or existing investigational products.)

Thank you in advance!

Welcome to SDN. Spend some time getting used to the forums and reading various posts. Pay particular attention to the posts dealing with the Texas applications.

In the mean time, fill in the grid completely. You will get the best advice and information if you tell us as much about yourself as possible.

You can do a DIY post-bacc to raise your gpa by 0.1, or you could just accept your gpa and spend your time improving your app in other ways (e.g. volunteering, leadership, research). MCAT should be your main focus right now. Good luck
