Will I match pep talk

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You have the opportunity for the ultimate LOI (letter of interest) that will definitely be "read," i.e. you can schedule a meeting with the dept chair at your home institution to discuss your prospects/application list, at which point you can tactfully mention your home institution is one of your top choices.

OP, you have a really good chance if you swallow your pride, play your cards properly and look at the data. See the diagnostic radiology section of Charting Outcomes in the Match for Allopathic Seniors in 2018:
Among radiology applicants with a step 1 score ranging between 211 and 220, 46 out of 59 applicants (78%) matched.

There are 195 radiology programs in the U.S.
Limit your applications to radiology programs (that aren't on any sort of probationary status) in the country's 50 least desirable cities. If you can get the data, exclude programs with poor board pass rates. If it's a town shunned by millenials, that's where you want to apply. Add your home program and any other program where you have some connection such as a desirable program where you rotated.

If your home program is considered lower tier, that will be your best shot. If your home program is WashU, UCSF, or Brigham, it’s not gonna work.

This ain't derm.
Which is why you have to have an attractive bone structure, as demonstrated on plain films, in order for it to boost you.

OP, I'd make sure your ERAS headshot is either an XR or slice of your own CT face for full effect. You may have to suffer some head trauma in order to get these studies covered by insurance, but it will be well worth it in the long run. Of course, if your connections truly are that strong, perhaps you'll be able to get these without the blunt facial injury. Best of luck to you.

PS, if you go the trauma route for the insurance benefits, make sure you have someone help you who is able to make it look good without causing any actual damage. Nobody wants an applicant with a Le Fort or an orbital blowout fracture; it just makes you look less put together.

I think yes if you are in fact good looking

OP's going into radiology. Ain't no one cares how good looking you are in the dark. Or if you are good looking ... what a waste.

OP, in all seriousness you'll be ok. Especially if your dad is a radiologist and well regarded in that area, he's likely to be known by at least some of the faculty. If they like him, you probably have a good chance of getting in. Don't underestimate the connection factor.
