Will it hurt to take Physics II a year after Physics I?

Since I'm transferring to a 4 year school in the fall, the next time I could take Physics II would be Spring 06. I took Physics I in Fall 04 with a mid B average (would of been an A but screwed up on 2 tests <sigh>). Will this hurt me?

An alternative would be to take Physics II at OKCCC in Fall, while going to USAO full time or at least 12 hours. Could take Physics II this summer at OKCCC but the teacher is an adjunct and may or may not be good.

1. Only C's hurt you, and you can survive with a few anyway, if you offset them with A's in other classes.

2. I'd do physics in the summer.

Hey OSUDoc,

Okay here's my new problem. After doing some online researching, USAO only offers Physics II in Spring. OKCCC offers it year around but I'm transferring with the maximum hours of comm. college credit that can be counted towards a degree. Point here is if I decide to do a minor, or someday (not likely) major in Biology then this Physics II class at OKCCC would have to be redone.

OU offers Physics II, but the problem is I can't figure out which class is the right one for me because they don't call it Physics II. LOL How confusing.

Just so I am clear before I do this search for you....

You want to take Physics II at either OKCCC, USAO or OU???

And your not sure which physics class at OU is Physics II?

Why not try calling an advisor at OU and ask which class is which? Calculus based, Aglebra-based, Allied-health based, etc.....

Basically, at OU its not listed as Physics II but for either Physics, Engineers, or Life Sciences Majors. And I'm none of those. And yes I must take this class at OU, OKCCC, or USAO.

Here's what I found so far.

From the OU catalog:

http://www.ou.edu/bulletins/html/03-06catalog.htm

INTRODUCTORY COURSES*
Physics 1205 and 1215 form a basic sequence for physics, astrophysics and astronomy majors to be begun in the first semester of the freshman year. Physics 2514 and 2524 comprise a two-semester basic sequence intended for engineers and other physical science majors who need to satisfy a physics requirement. Physics 2414 and 2424 comprise a two-semester sequence for premedical, medical technology, life science and other majors needing a noncalculus introductory physics course.*

Duplicate credit may not be received for 1114, 1205, 2414, 2514; *for 1215, 2424, 2524; nor for Astronomy 1504 and 1514 . Physics 1114, 1302, 1453, and Astronomy 1504 may not be counted as major work.*

------

IMHO, unless you plan on becoming an engineer or have a thing for Calculus, take Physics 2414 and 2424. They work for any of the Biology degrees, and they fulfill the pre-med req's.

They are offering Physics this summer at Norman , Tulsa and OC.
Here is a link to the class schedule:

Chop, Chop... Get registered! 😛

Good fortune future doctor...

Wow thanks for all the help!

I dont think it is a problem. Take physics II whenever you get a chance; it is pretty different than physics I. Physics I deals with the motion of objects (acceleration, inclined planes..) and physics II is mostly optics, light and magnetics. The few times concepts overlap, they should be stuff you remember or can easily lookup

Physics for life sciences majors

by the way---a minor is useless, don't worry about it.
