Will late dat effect aadsas

I want to apply as early as possible, but im taking the dat about 3 weeks after the application opens. Is it a good idea to submit the application very early (june 3rd or 4th) and then have my dat score sent or should i just submit the application after i take the dat. my main concern is i don't want dental schools to see my app and then put it in a pile of apps without the dat and forget about it.

if it matters, i've already written the personal statement and manual dexterity part.

im in the same situation. i believe it takes 3-4 weeks for the AADSAS application to be sent to each individual school. The DAT scores should be automatically uploaded into the system once you take your exam!

I don't think the scores aren't automatically uploaded to your AADSAS after taking the DAT. From http://www.ada.org/sections/educationAndCareers/pdfs/dat_faq.pdf

"It may take 4 weeks from the date that you take your DAT for your scores to be reported
to and verified by the American Dental Association, and for your scores to be transmitted
to ADEA AADSAS. ADEA AADSAS receives updated DAT scores on a weekly basis,
imports them into your application, and transmits them to schools within one week of
receipt."

But, if OP takes DAT June 30th, and applies July 1st, both AADSAS and DAT score should be getting to the school at around the same time 3-4 weeks into July.

I'm not 100% positive as I haven't applied yet. And I'm not sure what a school does if they see an application without official DAT scores being mailed in first. I hope they don't just toss it aside.

thanks, but what if they start reading my app and i don't have the dat in?

Email each school with the date you are taking it after submitting your app and ask each school if they would allow you to fax an "unofficial score report" to be considered while waiting on the official scores. Many of my schools allowed me to do this, some didnt.

Yes it will put you at a slight disadvantage but should not be detrimental as long as you have everything else in on time! GL
