Let's say I am going into 4th yr undergrad this September, and I will be applying for dental schools and sending my transcript off to AADSAS during May when I haven't completed my second semester courses yet. Will my 2nd semester marks be used to determine whether I will receive an early interview by most schools? I am thinking to take harder courses in 2nd semester to have better chance of getting inteviews if 2nd term mark won't affect my GPA. Thanks!

Depends on what your overall GPA is....if your GPA is like 3.9 and you've shown consistency with your grades, then it shouldnt be a problem. However, if your GPA is on the low end (like mine was), adcoms will wanna see how you are doing in your most current courses to make a decision.....well thats what I was told when I was applying 2 years ago.....and thats why AADSAS has an option for grades to be updated in January......im sure its much stricter now....

if I were you, I would spread out the harder courses......if you bunch them together, you might screwed in two ways:

1. They wait until these grades come in to make a decision, and at this time seats begin to fill up (you want them to be able to make a confident decision on you right away and not ahve to wait)
2. They give you a conditional acceptance and then you do poorly in your last semester and the acceptance gets retracted....

dont take the risk
