Will my gap year reflect poorly upon me?

I spent my first gap year doing research with my undergrad lab. During this year, I ended up publishing a first author paper and a poster at a national conference. I have another publication under review. HOWEVER, this position was unpaid. Will this gap year reflect poorly upon me, since it was technically not a "real job"?
