I will be taking a lot of courses from now until Spring of '17 when I apply and to be quite honest I won't have any time to work ANY job, much less accumulate hours in a medical position of some sort. I have looked into scribe and phlebotomy positions but it would just be absolutely brutal with my course schedule. I just wouldn't want it to affect my grades...

I do plan to get more hours shadowing a DO, and I have a lot of volunteer hours with hospice patients but it is in home care..will not holding a formal medical position hurt my chances substantially? Especially since I am an applicant with pretty low stats (3.25 cGPA, 3.75 sGPA, no MCAT taken yet...)

How many hrs in hospice care? That alone makes you golden in my book.

Around 150 hours or so...id like to add that I'm not actually a hospice worker(moving patients, feeding, clothing them)but what I do is stay with them and assist them if needed 3-5 hours on weekends and some weekdays while their main caretaker is out running errands...

Essentially volunteering in ER making rounds. By the way, ur GPA is quite good. Get 504+ on MCAT and you'll be gold.

Thanks for the replies! Feeling a bit more confident about it
