hi,

I am from university of Toronto, in Canada. I am going to my third year in this fall. I interested in applying for epidemiology programs. I have volunteerred in a nephron lab as a project student for about two years. I am just wondering if research work and leadership roles are important for public health school application? Do research works count as public health related experience?
Also, for people who are in public health, do you guys go to public health school right after undergrad or you have several years of work experiences?
I hope I can get into top public health schools like columbia, what GPA is considered as competitive? I am major in physiology and human biology, and my current cumulative GPA is 3.47. Is it too low for top schools?
Thanks in advance.

I think you are a good candidate for public health school at Columbia. I am a student here at Columbia and absolutely love it. Your GPA is good. Get some good scores on the GRE. I think your research and extra curricular activities are solid. You will have another year to put more things on your resume.

You should be fine. Ask any and all questions about Columbia.
