Hi guys,
I applied to LOTS of medical schools back in the day and ultimately ended up going to one that didn't even use AMCAS. My question is, when I apply to residency programs at the same schools as I applied to med school, is there any way they can see my AMCAS, since that school will have had access to it in the past? The idea of having my undergraduate past haunt me into residency scares me... how long do you think schools keep applicants' AMCAS's around? Can they re-access them from the AMCAS system later if they want to look at old apps?
Please let me know what you think!

I don't think they would even still have your file, and I don't think they would take the time to check up on it for all the applicants. The closest thing to this that I have seen is requesting a copy of undergrad transcript or SAT score, but it isn't common and the program tells you that they want it. I wouldn't worry about you past sneaking up on you.

they aren't gonna waste their time to find your amcas app. so to answer your question... no.

Most schools only keep AMCAS apps on file for a year or two, so even if they could see them when it came time to apply for residency, chances are your app has been trashed already. I wouldn't worry about it.

i never even filled out a AMCAS app.
