I am a rising senior after having taken a gap year between junior and senior year. I plan on taking the DAT this september and then applying for the 2014 round. For the part in the application for taking DAT where you choose the schools you want to send to, I'm very scared to put anything down because I feel that if I score poorly, it will hurt my chances entirely. Is this true?

I hope you realize that schools will be able to see all of your past DAT scores. Just because you don't send them it doesn't mean they can't see it eventually when you apply with new DAT scores. This is because your DENTPIN (used for registering for the DAT) is linked to your AADSAS application when you apply. Therefore, there is no reason not to put down schools when you register.

You should also avoid walking into testing situation thinking that you can always just retake it. ALSO you should just check off all the schools now! If they don't get your application, they'll get the point that you're not actually applying there. It'll just be a lot more costly to have to pay additional $$ out of your pocket to send to schools that you didn't check off the first time around

So long as you check off just ONE school when you apply to take your DAT, they will all get it when you apply. It's on your application.
