PLEASE DO NOT QUOTE. Thanks! (just want some quick help here)

After having graduated, I've been evaluating my overall transcript and feel like my course load and course choice has been sub-par. I'm worried medical schools will think so too! Can someone please look at it and let me know if I am okay? Or whether I need to get in more upper-level science classes etc?

Here it is:

I'm mainly worried about the lack of more upper level sciences (Microbiology, Immunology, Anat/Physio. etc.) I wanted to take these but didn't have time before I graduated. Do I need to take these as non-degree before I apply in June? My current AMCAS GPA is 3.84 cumulative & 3.74 science.

I'm also worried about the extensive research credit (~10 credits total) and the 12-credit semester.

@Goro @LizzyM @gyngyn @Ismet @Catalystik I'd love adcom input!

Yah your course selection does not matter that much and nobody will really care about what classes you took, how many, or about the 12 hour semester. You have a strong GPA, all the required classes for matriculation, etc. That's what matters. No adcom will inspect every single course you took in college and make a decision based primarily on that information (note that the second half of this sentence is more important than the first; that is, even if they did look critically at your transcript, what could they possible gleam from it?).

If you have an MCAT above 509 / 30 and the typical ECs you have a good chance of getting into a medical school somewhere if you apply broadly and intelligently. Be happy that your GPA is strong and relax a little.

I see the prereqs, some research, and some upper level science.

That is all you need.

Make sure your MCAT and ECs are in order and take one chillpill ever 4-6 hours with water and you'll be just fine (seriously man stop stressing).

No way, OP, I have the same exact transcript as you! Please take down your post because people will mistake you for me.

There is nothing you can do, so it's best to not worry (easier said than done, I know).

Actually, I could take upper-level science classes as a non-degree student this spring before I apply in June. But that would mean shelling out $5000 and taking time away from MCAT study.

In case my transcript is good, I'm not sure if this will be worth my time, money and energy.

There are plenty of non-science majors who take only the prereqs and still get into medical school. You're fine.

Okay thanks for all the input! This makes me feel a bit better 🙂

Thanks! I do plan to take micro, anatomy/physio. before starting medical school though (maybe sometime during my gap year as a non-degree student). I can list these as future classes on my AMCAS right? Would there be repercussions if I listed them and then, for some reason did not follow through? Also, do you know if my school transcript has to show that I'm registered for these courses in order for AMCAS to verify and list them?

Read the AMCAS instruction manual. You are not bound to classes you list as current/future. They don't have to show up on your transcript.
