I've taken Microbiology but would also like to take Cell and Molec. However, due to a crammed schedule next semester, I would also want to take Abnormal Psychology and Microbiology Lab, which I think would be great as well. What are your opinions?

I guess it all depends...if you are looking to take the MCAT you will be better off with Cell and Molec as it will teach you or reinforce basic bio that is tested on the MCAT...Abnormal psych might be fun and help you some in the future but you will get psych experience in med school and at this point I just don't think it would be beneficial in the short term..Micro fundamentals are important..I vividly remember a micro passage on my MCAT...although, I don't think the lab is very necessary and really I probably only had to use gen bio knowledge like that given in cell and molec to answer the questions..my micro class was kind of a joke, but thankfully those other two (I took cell and molec seperately) were excellent! Best of luck!!

What do you want to take? Whichever one you are most interested in should be your answer. That said, the molecular class will be the better option if are you really unsure. As said above, may help you with the MCAT, but it also shows you can hang with upper level bio classes... that is if you can hang. It sounds like you can.

My vote: cell and molecular, and the micro lab.

I would go with Cell and Molec. I don't know how Abnormal Psych is taught at other schools but when I took it last term I was pretty underwhelmed. If you're a psych major you've probably touched on most of the material in other classes and if you're not a psych major then there's really no point in taking it. I'd have to think Cell and Molec would be helpful for the MCAT too.

Cell and Molec will serve you better both for the MCAT and in medical school.

I personally took abnormal psychology over a summer session. It is a very chill class and the material is pretty manageable with even limited experience in science or psychology. It'll be a lot of reading but the reading will overall be very interesting and overall light in comparison to the same amount of pages in a physiology or microbiology book.
However.. back to the main point. If your schedule is already extremely heavy in the sciences then avoid taking cell bio, if it is not then go ahead and take cell biology and save abnormal for the summer or some other time.

Thanks for your response. After taking microbiology, I really enjoy cell mechanics. As of now my senior year first semester classes are: kinesiology (3), epidemiology(3), human sexuality(3), music appreciation(3,online), microbiology lab(1), and careers in medicine (1), that's 14 already. But Cell and Molec just seems more relevant, despite my interest being equal for both subjects.
