I got a C in Organic Chemistry 1 and it was a 5 credit class and it was lab and lecture combined into one grade.

I am retaking Organic Chemistry 1 at a different institution since my school won't let me retake it and the new school I am taking it at does say Organic Chemistry 1 is 5 credits but the lab and lecture grade is separate. Lecture is 3 credits and lab is 2, I think.

Will AACOMAS still allow grade replacement in this case? I'm going to retake it regardless just to show them I'm capable of getting an A and maybe it'll help raise the science GPA by .01-.02 anyway. But it would be even better if they just replaced it!

Oh man this is always a tough one. Over the years I have been on SDN I have seen posters say it worked for them and then others say it didn't.

I can't remember the threads or I would post the links for you. But for the one's that said it worked, they claimed they broke the 5 credit class into 4 credit lecture and 1 credit lab. The other caveat they said is that that they had to receive the same grade in both lecture and lab for it to work. Sorry I know this doesn't help much lol

@Goro would you happen to know if grade replacement will work in this case?

It seems like it's taken on a case by case basis

Your best bet is to contact them. They are usually pretty fast at getting emails back (within 48 hours). Maybe ask them on two separate occasions (in 2 slightly different ways) like two weeks apart. That way you 100% will have confirmation that it counts.

I spoke with AACOMAS about a similar issue. I wanted to replace a 4 credit class, which included a 3hr lec and 1 hr lab, with a separate 3 hr lec and separate 1 hr lab. I was told that when I'm putting the courses into AACOMAS, I should list them separately and I will be allowed to replace the 4 hr course with the individual 3hr lec and 1 hr lab. I hope this makes sense.

1st take:
4 hr class (3 hr lec+1hr lab)

retake:
3hr lec class
1 hr lab

When putting the course into aacomas, the 4 hr class will be broken down into a 3 hr lec and 1 hr lab, in your case it would be a 3 hr lec and 2 hr lab. Hope this helps, good luck.
