Hi Everyone,

I have consistently taken 16-17 credits since freshman year and am currently a junior and want to take 14 academic credits + 1 nonacademic credit (like meditation), will this look bad?

The thing is, I'd only have about 14 credits left to complete during senior year if I stuck to the 17 credits I am taking right now. If I drop one of my classes and thus have (14 academic + 1 nonacademic), I'd have about 17 credits left to complete senior year. I want to stay the full senior year but want to take classes that will actually work towards that 120 graduation requirement. If i finish most of the requirements now, then I really wouldn't have much to take senior year.

What do you guys think?
Thanks!

Nope. Don't worry about it. I was in a similar situation, if not worse because I was only taking 12. People told me that it's no big deal.

well, I'm just a freshman and just started college 2010 fall, and I probably don't know much about college. But I would like to say that it wouldn't look bad because isn't it obvious that your transcript says that you worked hard and took hard classes your freshman through junior year and run out of classes to take your senior year?😀 idk this is just my opinion. Honestly, I would take all my classes or requirements to graduate like half way through my senior year and take easy classes the last 6 months of my senior year and have fun 😀 I think you earn and deserve to take easy classes after trying so hard for so many years you know.

Certainly not and I can vouch for that from personal experience. Just be careful of the courses you take. If you need to drop more credits later to below what is considered full time and you're on financial aid, you'll be screwed.

I don't see a problem at all with 14 credit hours especially since you are trying to stretch out being full time for the rest of your undergraduate career. Do consider taking some extra classes if you feel up for the challenge and your finances allow. It will add character! 🙂

I'm not sure that credit hours really matter that much. For example, I'm taking five classes, three of which have labs, and I'll only have 15 credits this semester. I'm not sure if it would be possible for me to handle/schedule another class to bring the credit number up. I wouldn't worry about it!
