Compared to what? CDC, NIH, MIT...
If this is an opportunity to do something that interests and engages you and it doesn't take time away from other important things, do it. Don't do it to impress anyone. The benefit is in how it develops you.Hmm…so you are saying it wouldn't make me stand out? I mean, just compared to the normal applicant pool…

No.I see. If I start now, this opportunity will distract me from MCAT prep as I am taking my exam in April. I can begin in April after MCAT but then again, I'm applying this June so will it really have any impact on my primary application - with just 2 months of FDA work before app submission?
Would volunteering in a research lab at the FDA have any impact on my application? I already have enough research experience, but I'm wondering if the name FDA will turn heads at medical schools…
Okay, thank you. It is an interesting opportunity, so I might pursue it during my gap year. Perhaps I can talk about it in secondaries? But since it won't have any impact now, I'll focus on nailing the MCAT and applying for paid jobs and clinical experience, which is what I actually need 🙂
