A school I applied to accepted me for an interview back in Feb. When the school called, they said there was an interview date on Feb 15th, but since that was only a week away, they suggested I attend their second interview date on March 14th. I agreed to the March 14th date because it was so much easier to plan for. I didn't reiceve any more notice about the interview, and called yesterday to just confirm everything was in order, when i was informed that they had me listed for the Feb. date! I was added to the list for March, but am nervous that the mishap might affect my possibilities of getting in. Do you all think that it matters at all?

I wouldn't think so. It wasn't even your mistake. I think you are just getting nervous! Think about all of the things that they are looking at to determine if you can perform in a doctoral program-- I don't think this would be taken into account. Don't worry and good luck!!

Was this correspondence via e-mail? If so, make sure that in one (or more) of your confirmation e-mails you 'reply' and include the body of the e-mail where you stated that you'd prefer the March 14th date - that will make sure they know it was their blunder, so it shouldn't reflect too poorly on you.

PS: Having interviews a month apart sounds very odd to me if they aren't 1st cut, 2nd cut. Any sense of why the school did that? 😕

Paperwork mistake, I'm certain they'll correct it and then never think about it again for the rest of their lives. 😛 Relax!

Good idea to use the email proof method, hehe. It would be a nice yet subtle way to show them that they messed up, but I agree that it really won't impact anything if they want you (and maybe you can take it as a good sign that they didn't just say nope sorry, you missed it?).

Just to make sure no one gets the wrong idea about where they stand...I know of several programs that hold interviews throughout a whole month without having rounds of cuts. I guess it just depends on how many qualified applicants there are, and the availability of staff and faculty to hold interviews. And even if a school does have cuts, they wouldn't continue to interview people if they had found everyone they need. Good luck and have fun! 🙂
