"Why do I need research if I just want to be a clinician? Oh, got to go prep for my session of Brainspotting followed by some Parts work with clients!"
I had a patient a few months ago who told me about all the great brain spotting, EMDR, and somatic therapy they were doing with their therapist.

I've actually seen some WJC dissertations and some are quite good. And some are quite trash. WJC is a large enough cohort that there will be some that are proactive and will shine and thrive there (on both the clinical and research side). And then there will be students that fall through the cracks and have horrible research and clinical skills. I've worked with several on both ends of the spectrum. Ironically, my experience has been polarizing like that- either they're amazing, or they struggle immensely 🙁 It's both skill and professionalism - I had a WJC intern placed at my facility who just decided she wouldn't come to work some days and then had the audacity to ask me to sign off on hours...?!
