I'm curious, why the interest in the anesthesia forum?

You are a surgeon, right?

Not that its a bad idea fro a surgeon to be on this forum. We all know there is a lot to be learned here and that it is the best forum on SDN but why are you here so much?

You seem to be moderating and not really adding anything clinical. Am I right?

Hmmm...never thought I was here all that much. I probably stop by every few days. I post much less frequently.

As a surgeon, issues important to anesthesiologists are important to me as well. I enjoy reading the posts here and feel that I learn from them. I have a good relationship in working with the gas guys in my hospitals and feel that understanding each other is key to producing a better experience for the patient and everyone in the room.

I don't add anything clinical (which is clearly *not* a requirement to post here) because I am not an anesthesiologist. If there is a question dealing with surgical management where I feel I can contribute, I do so.

In regards to Moderation, I have done none in here in recent memory with the exception of the thread dealing with Venty where I was *asked* by several members of this forum and SDN staff to ask Pilot Doc to edit his post. After discussion with Jet and Pilot Doc, the post was restored (until Pilot Doc edited it on his own).

I think I am quite careful about doing any Moderation here because of the potential for users to misinterpret those actions.

Finally, I asked the current Mods here if they would like to post a welcome message for the new Assistant Mods and was asked if I would do it because they had some time constraints. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have concerns about my presence here.

I think the dude is the founding member of 1-800 Ask Gary. Seriously though, I usually walk around with a tin foil hat on and in my book, the cat's a SPY paid by a governmental agency until proven otherwise. Regards, ----Zippy
