Anyone have any experience with the wireless ultrasound probes out there? Clarius? SonoStar? ICEN? Haven't been able to find much in terms of reviews.

At the current rate, I will have died of old age by the time we get a decent, portable ultrasound in our department, so I'm looking to go rogue.

I looked extensively into buying the Clarius linear probe due to the limited number of Sonosites available, but I ultimately went with the wired Butterfly due to its rough TTE capabilities (which gave me critical information many times during emergencies) as well as vascular access (limited)--and it was less than half the price ($2000 versus $5000). Having it in my pocket has been amazing, but I struggle a lot with its logistics (e.g., where to put my phone/iPad while doing an exam or placing lines, having the proper angle on the phone, cleaning everything afterward, etc.).

I still think a wireless US would be nice (e.g., doing a central line without lugging around a Sonosite or having wires), but same as your experience, reviews were essentially non-existent.

I've heard mixed things about the Butterfly, and I'm not willing to pay for the subscription or else I'd probably go for it despite the wire. The price is definitely right.

SonoStar has a 3-in-1 probe (linear, curvilinear, phased array) that you work basically by flipping it around. I saw it at a conference and it looked like a reasonable device, but I'm reluctant to spend ~$3000 without reviews. Clarius is the only competitor that I know of, but I'm sure there are others.
