Hey all. I one of the schools I've applied to MD-PhD, did not decide to interview me, but offered to consider me in the regular MD pool. Since then, I've gotten a lot of other interview invites (10+), including all of the other schools I applied to in the same area. I'm starting to think that I should withdraw from the school b/c I'm not that crazy about it, and definitely not for an MD only program. Also I don't currently live in the US, so if I were to get a later interview, I'm not sure I would want to spend the money/time to go back, just for that one interview. withdrawing would free up a spot for someone else.

The thing is, I haven't gotten any acceptances yet b/c the schools I've already interviewed with are either non-rolling or don't decide for another month or so. It makes me nervous to withdraw from anything, b/c it is so permanent.

What would you do?

You listed some great reasons to withdraw. If you have 10+ interviews already, you'll be fine. I've withdrawn from a couple schools already, and I don't have an acceptance in hand either.

I am one of the most insecure people I know and even I was thinking about withdrawing from a couple of safeties once I crossed the 10-interview mark.
Unless you have some terrible interview skills, I can't see you not getting in somewhere.

edit: That said - partly because I was still a little nervous but also partly because of the timing (I got an acceptance much earlier than I thought I would) I didn't end up withdrawing before an acceptance in hand.
