Hello All,

Ive already been accepted to MSUCOM, im graduating from u.g. at the end of this month. My problem is that I have been slacking off bigtime (senioritis) in my histology class and might end up with a C or D grade. Should I withdraw from the class if I can, if i cant and I do end up with a D in that class can they take my acceptance away? Thanks.

Perhaps you could call the school and ask. Or anonymously email them.

You could always STUDY for the class and not get the D.

Yeah a D is unacceptable. A C will have NO EFFECT, and is OK.

If you get a D, then you will need to retake in the spring.

Study 18 hours a day, and make the C. No excuse.

Yup, they will surely revoke your acceptance if you get a D in a class. 🙄

I'm suffering from chronic senioritis as well. The best that could happen is 2 A's and 3 B's. The worst thing that could happen is 2 A's, 2 B's, and a C.

The C of DOOM

It will all be over in about 10 hours.

You should call MSU and ask someone. KCOM's letter says that "poor academic performance" could jeopardize my final acceptance. I wonder what "poor academic performance" is.

here's my theory. all schools say that your acceptance is conditional upon "keeping the same level of academic excellence." however, i've never heard of one specifically stating the exact level of excellence they expect, and i've never heard of someone getting their acceptance revoked for a D. that said, i would recommend studying and going for the C. you're going to need some good study skills next year so you might was well learn them now and practice retaining large amounts of material in a short period of time.

Poor academic performance = D's.

I got lot's of C's, and got into 5 schools, including KCOM.

No, not all of them say that. MSUCOM never said anything like that, they just said I was admitted to the class of 2009.

I would just drop out, I know several people who never even went back to class after getting in. They never got their bachelors or anything, once they were in, they just quit. Not saying that is the smartest thing, but if the school doesn't care why should you, check with the school.

👎 BAD IDEA

There is a high risk for revocation of acceptance if you quit going to class and don't finish your degree, after the admission was contigent upon its completion.

If your application states that you have pending classes and a degree to finish, then the admissions office assumes that you will complete it at a similar level that you currently perform at.

It's kinda funny that you had to say it, as if there was no way he was willing to resort to that.

I recently was accepted about a month ago, and I think I will probally get the boot from my grad program, as I am about to pull C's in all my classes. Thats including a "W" I will get in Biochem. I got through senioritis, but "worthless grad school program "itis" is much worse, especially after the accpetance letter comes and my acceptance is in no way contingent on my finishing of the program. 👍 It is so hard to get yourself motivated to study hard for classes that dont mean ****. I have lost all motivation to do anything but booze it up with my friends. Hang in there. The fun will really start fall 2009. GO BUCKS!!!!!

First off, congrats on acceptance.

Next, take the good advice given to you and do everything possible to get the C.

Lastly, if you do get a D, don't freak out. My senior year I took a class on the block. A calendar put out by the department had a misprint, so I showed up to class two weeks after it started. The instructor told me point blank they wouldn't pass me (a C grade), even though the school had made the mistake. I couldn't drop the class because of my Pell Grant, so I did my best and got a D+ (I easily would have had an A if I had been present to all sessions).

When I found out my grade, I called my school's admissions office asking them for advice. I was surprised to find out that they didn't care. Moral of the story? Do your best. If you think you might have a problem, call the school and let them advise you.

It was also brought up in this thread that you must graduate if you get accepted. Not true. However, most do anyways.
